Expectations of rate cuts and tech gains lift markets

U.S. stocks rise before Fed decision on tech strength

Global markets are witnessing a state of cautious anticipation today, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's (Fed) decision on interest rates, alongside the release of earnings results from several major technology companies that could reshape the overall market trend.

Analysts expect the Fed to cut interest rates by 25 basis points, a move aimed at supporting economic activity following signs of a slowdown in the labor market and retail sales. However, attention is more focused on Jerome Powell's statements and the future projections (Dot Plot), which will reveal the pace of upcoming monetary policy.

At the same time, earnings results from American technology companies such as Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft are boosting investor sentiment, after showing positive expectations in the artificial intelligence and cloud computing sectors. As a result, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 futures rose, while Asian stocks showed mixed performance as they await the Fed's decisions. ...

  US Dollar

On the other hand, bond markets are witnessing a decline in volatility, reflecting relative confidence that the Federal Reserve will take a measured step without surprises, while gold continues to trade within a narrow range between $4,020 and $4,000 amid a balance between a weak dollar and diminishing risk appetite.

In Europe, indices tend to show slight declines due to caution over decisions by major central banks, while oil prices remain near $60 as market participants await U.S. inventory data.

Summary:

Today represents a critical point for global markets; any indication from the Federal Reserve regarding the upcoming interest rate policy or strong results from technology companies could redirect global risk appetite and determine the path of the dollar and gold through the end of the week.
