GBP/USD chart on the hourly time frame

GBP/USD chart on the hourly time frame

The pound is trading near 1.3027 within a clear descending channel.

Technical indicators:

  • The MACD indicator shows weakening buying momentum after a minor correction.
  • The price is below the 50-hour moving average, confirming the downward trend.

Reasons:
The pound is declining due to economic pressures in the UK following weak services sector data, in addition to growing concerns about tight monetary policy.

Expectation:
The decline is expected to continue towards 1.2980 and then 1.2940, unless the price breaks through the 1.3100 resistance level, which could restore some temporary upward momentum.

EUR/USD Chart on the hourtly time frame

EUR/USD Chart on the hourtly time frame

The pair continues to move within the descending channel, stabilizing near 1.1488 after a limited recovery attempt.

Technical indicators:

  • The MACD indicator remains in negative territory with weak momentum.
  • Short-term moving averages (20- and 50-period EMAs) show continued selling pressure.

Reasons:
The euro's decline is attributed to the strength of the US dollar, supported by comments from Federal Reserve officials regarding the possibility of maintaining interest rates for a longer period, coupled with weak European manufacturing data.

Expectation:
If weakness persists below 1.1500, the price could target 1.1450 and then 1.1415, while a break above 1.1550 could open the door for a temporary upward correction.

USDJPY chart on the hourly time frame

USDJPY chart on the hourly time frame

The pair is trading at 153.68, near its highest level in months.

Technical Indicators:

  • The MACD is positive, indicating strong bullish momentum.
  • The price is above the short-term moving averages.

Reasons:
The dollar is supported by high bond yields, while the yen remains under pressure from the Bank of Japan's continued accommodative monetary policy.

Expectation:
As long as the price stays above 153.30, the uptrend remains intact towards 154.20 and then 154.70. A break below 153.00 could signal the start of a limited correction.
