Markets await US core retail sales data for July

Small rise expected — impact on dollar?

Today, Friday, August 15, 2025, at 4:30 PM UAE time, the United States will release Core Retail Sales (MoM) data for July—a measure of the change in retail sales excluding autos.

Expectations indicate a 0.3% monthly growth, following the previous June reading of 0.5%.

This indicator is considered one of the most prominent tools for measuring consumer resilience and is crucial for the Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions.

  US Dollar Movements

The market is eagerly awaiting whether July sales confirm a sustained recovery or reflect a subtle slowdown in consumer spending. A stronger-than-expected reading would strengthen the US dollar and could raise expectations for monetary policy. A weaker reading could open the door to further fiscal easing.
