US Federal Reserve's Balance Sheet

  • Time: 12:30 AM (midnight Thursday to Friday) UAE time

  • Statement type: Weekly Federal Reserve Report

What is this statement?

A report that shows the size of the assets and liabilities held by the US Federal Reserve. In other words, it shows how much money has been injected or withdrawn from the US financial system.

  US Dollar

If the balance sheet increases:

  • It indicates that the Fed is injecting liquidity into the markets (buying bonds, for example).
  • This is considered monetary easing, which weakens the dollar relatively and boosts gold and stocks.

If the balance sheet decreases:

  • It indicates that the Fed is withdrawing liquidity from the markets (selling bonds or shrinking its balance sheet).
  • It is considered monetary tightening, which supports the dollar and pressures gold and stocks.

Actual impact:

  • The statement does not cause immediate volatility like unemployment or PMI data.
  • However, it is used as an indicator of the Fed's medium-term policy and influences inflation and interest rate expectations.

Tip for traders:
Pay close attention to the volume of changes in assets (especially government bonds and mortgage-backed securities) — if the market sees significant changes, it may begin to reprice interest rate trends and inflation expectations.
