Will Market Gains Hold as 2025 Draws to a Close?

Investors cautiously balance profits and 2026 signals

As 2025 approaches its end, global markets are experiencing a phase of cautious consolidation following the strong rallies driven by recent central bank decisions, led by the U.S. Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut.

During this period, investors tend to reduce risk exposure and rebalance portfolios, amid seasonally lower liquidity and growing anticipation of key economic data expected in early 2026, particularly related to inflation and economic growth.

  Gold

The U.S. dollar is trading within a narrow range, while major currencies and gold remain relatively stable.

Equity markets, meanwhile, are showing limited volatility without breaking their broader upward trends, reflecting a collective wait-and-see stance ahead of the new year.

A technical look at XAUUSD:

Gold continues to trade near new all-time highs after a strong bullish rally, supported by ongoing U.S. dollar weakness and increased hedging demand as year-end approaches. Price action remains within a well-defined ascending channel, holding above previously broken levels, which confirms the strength of the broader uptrend.

The MACD indicator remains in positive territory with solid momentum, although early signs of slowing suggest the possibility of short-term consolidation or mild profit-taking before the next upside leg.

A clear break above 4500 could open the way toward 4550, followed by 4600, while a move below 4435 may trigger a technical correction toward 4380 without altering the overall bullish structure.

Overall Trend: Strongly Bullish
Support: 4435 – 4380
Resistance: 4500 – 4550 – 4600

Outlook:
The bullish bias remains intact as long as gold holds above 4435, with further upside likely after brief consolidation phases.
